Designer Trash bags. I’m not sure how I feel about this. On one hand I’m amazed by the technical craft of these couture Louis Vuitton handbags. They are a coated canvas posing as plastic with orange pull strings that appear to be either high quality nylon or maybe even leather, probably the latter given LV’s heritage. This mimicry is truly amazing, but with a $1,960 price tag the joke stops for me. I’m not sure if the kind of person that can actually afford (or covets) these bags would be into it for Marc Jacobs’ wit or just because it’s the latest “it” item LV is peddling this year. I don’t mean to make generalities, but you know the type. Because, all in all, I really like this idea. It’s cheeky and fun, but I hope people will like it for the concept rather than because it’s made by LV.
